At toasted. our favorite thing is giving you our take on delicious flavor combinations from our childhoods through adulthood. Sandwiches like The Mac, The Country Roads, The After School Special, and The Jewel are all variations of foods everyone had growing up, and we love being able to reconnect people with that nostalgia. Then we have sandwiches like The Art of the Dill, The Liberty Bell, The Hot Hen, The Irish Cattleman, and The Gobbler that may have taken us a little longer in life to appreciate those specific flavors, but we sure are glad we did!! The food that we serve on our trailer comes straight from our heart, and nothing means more to us than seeing someone's reaction when they truly enjoy what we have made for them.
We believe that food has the power to bring people together. That's why we are dedicated to being an active and engaged member of our local community. We participate in a number of local events and festivals, we support other local food trucks and businesses first, and we are always looking for ways to give back to the community that has supported us so much since the beginning of our journey to get where we are today. .
In 2020, during the time of Covid and telework, we decided that it was time to do the thing that we have been talking and dreaming about for close to a decade. We started researching, planning, paperwork, and everything else that goes into starting a new business. We put a deposit down on a food trailer to be built by a company in Georgia in March of 2021, and then we waited. We kept checking in with them, but due to "supply chain issues" our trailer was never started. Enter Berkeley County Youth Fair 2021, in August. We knew we weren't going to have our trailer by then, so we decided to do it under a tent with a couple Blackstone grills and some amazing family & friends to help us. What an amazing week that was! Our customers showed up in droves and we sold over 1,340 sandwiches during the fair! That was our first ever event and from that point forward we were hooked. We did a couple more events after that while we still waited on our trailer to be built, including Mainstreet Martinsburg's Food Truck Fest 2021. In November we realized that our food trailer has still not been started so we got our deposit back, and we went on the search for a trailer to build ourselves. We eventually found what we were looking for, a 24' Big Tex Commander car trailer, and we bought it in December. We built our trailer ourselves over the winter and we debuted the toasted. trailer that you see today at Mainstreet Martinsburg's St. Patrick's Day festival in March of 2022, and I guess you could say the rest is history. Since that day, our amazing customers have always shown up for us, and we could never even begin to thank y'all enough!!
Thank you for taking the time to read our story, and we will see you soon!
